Parastegophilus
Parastegophilus is a genus of catfishes (order Siluriformes) of the family Trichomycteridae. It includes two species, P. maculatus and P. paulensis. P. maculatus origiantes from the lower Parana and Uruguay River basins in Argentina while P. paulensis is from the upper Parana River basin in Brazil. Parastegophilus species grow to about 5.4–6.0 centimetres in length. P. maculatus enters the gill chamber of Luciopimelodus pati and feeds on the gills.
